Wow this was a messed up school year! You had Mrs. Brooks as your third grade teacher at Snow Creek and loved her. You had a great class. However in March, everything came to a screeching halt. The Coronavirus (COVID-19) arrived in the United States from China, and your school was closed due to it. In fact, EVERYTHING was closed because of it. All businesses, government agencies, everything was closed. Some people were (and still are) wearing a mask out when they are out in public places. Thankfully we’re not those people. From March until May, you did all of your schooling online. You had to get online each day and complete your assignments and turn them in on Google Classroom. It worked though and we managed. You passed 3rd grade! You had great grades (all A’s) before school was out, but your last report card just said promoted, since they didn’t have grades to go by.
We were going to go on a cruise this year out of Puerto Rico, but with everything closed, our trip was cancelled. We did end up taking a few days to go to Southport, and Myrtle Beach. You always enjoy being in a hotel room for some reason. We did 2 escape rooms in Wilmington which you love escape rooms. During this whole shutdown thing due to the virus, there have been some racial incidents that have happened, one being the murder of George Floyd by a police officer. This sparked riots nationwide as well as protests. When we came out of the escape room, we walked into the middle of a peaceful protest. It was very interesting and you were just standing there watching.
While we were in Myrtle Beach, you enjoyed some more escape rooms, and we also got milkshakes each night. You always got a banana split. We also rode go-carts together and you LOVED them. You screamed “WEEEEEEEEE” and “THIS IS THE LIFE” as we were going fast down the hills. You loved it.
Who knows how school will resume next year, if it will. It will be interesting but you can bet I will blog about it for you, so you can read this when you’re older. In fact when you read this, who knows what the world will look like because of Covid-19.
